Room Remodel

If I were single or had a husband that didn’t care so much about the décor in our house, my color schemes would be so different.

We like darker colors. I’m ok with them. They are comforting and everything, but there is just something about having random splashes of color throughout the house that revitalize the soul.

You should see the playroom my sister has for her kiddos. It is bright blue. She’s planning on having Toy Story type clouds painted on the walls too. When you walk in the room, you can’t help but feel a little happier.

If I were by myself, I would have my neutrals, but in some rooms, I would have my greens, pinks, blacks, whites, purples, yellows etc.

Since that probably wouldn’t make Abel too happy, I choose to go with a more neutral green in our bedroom. I’m thinking green, black and cream/ivory (keeping in mind that our new bed and other furniture is black).

Here are some pictures that are inspiring our room remodel. Please excuse the crappy quality of some of the pictures. I took them on my phone and didn’t have the settings right.

I adore this idea the most.

The picture that inspired it all....doesn't it scream Life?! Photobucket

Wouldn't these be neat if they were in black against a cream colored wall?Photobucket

The bedset I am lusting over....it's entirely too expensive though.Photobucket

So there you have it.....after hours upon hours of searching both in stores and online for our color scheme, we are sticking with boring old green. It'll turn out pretty nice though I sure.

I was like, why are you so obsessed with me?

(Thanks for the blog title, Mariah) ;)

I’m obsessing.

It all started last Wednesday when my sister asked if we wanted to go walk around Ikea with her and the kids after I got off work. She just needed to go to the As-Is section to find a door for her makeshift pantry. It’s pretty neat looking.

We spent 2 ½ hours walking around the dang place. It probably could have been longer if they weren’t closing at 8:00pm.

I love IKEA.

Our plan was to not buy ANYTHING. Payday wasn’t until the next day, and we have a month full of bills to begin tackling…much like every other American.

Abel picked up some tea lights. I was ok with that. They were only a couple of bucks each pack.

Then we got to the As-Is section. (thanks, Kristi!) ;)

Let’s back up for a minute…..

For the past 6 ½ years, our bedroom has been a hodge podge of furniture.

Dark Oak dresser & mirror.
Golden oak side tables.
No bed frame…just the metal one for the box springs.
Lame.
For the past 6 ½ years, we consistently talk about buying furniture for the room.

Back to our IKEA trip…

We came across a bed. 50% off just because it had a little dent and scratch on the back of the headboard. For those of you that know IKEA, their furniture isn’t very pricey anyway.

So, now I’m at a crossroads. I have all of these grand ideas for our room with little space and a little budget.
My newest obsession is finding the perfect bedding. It's a hard feat when you have one person that loooooves color and the other that wants to keep things basic.
Just you wait….I’ll probably end up with something drab and boring.

I suppose we should probably finish landscaping our backyard (also left undone for about 6 years) before I move on to another endeavor.

I’m sure this won’t be the last post about this subject.
